A few years ago I made some panels inspired by blank VHS cassettes and my love of movies and video stores. Those panels were among some of my favorite things I’ve ever designed and made. All of Austin’s video stores have closed—Vulcan Video and I Luv Video were killed by the pandemic—but I miss wandering the aisles, stumbling upon some oddball film I’d never heard of, and chatting with the clerks about this or that. These VHS inspired Texas ornaments honor that love and that bygone era.
